About the Event

Dr. Nicole Ackermans (she/her) is a Postdoctoral fellow of the Swiss National Science Foundation, at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York City. She is fascinated by vertebrate morphology and 3D imaging various aspects of anatomy. Her current postdoc project focuses on the anatomy and neuroscience of traumatic brain injury in headbutting animals.

In her presentation she'll be talking about traumatic brain injury in muskoxen and how they investigate that in the lab, whether they get brain injury from headbutting and the consequences that may have on their life history!
